Why we’re choosing Nudura
About Nudura ICF
Introduced in 2001, Nudura has become one of the top ICF manufacturers in the nation. Nudura’s goal is to provide their customers with a superior ICF product that will provide reduced energy costs, safer living and working environments, and more comfortable living and working spaces.

Nudura Block Size
The honest answer to why Nudura is the hinged web and block size. Nudura blocks ship in packages of three flattened blocks. With one simple movement, you can expand the block and you’re ready to place it! The standard blocks are also 96″ x 18″.
With other block brands, the ICF ships as a 48″ by 16″ block with the web in place, so 12″ wide. If you’re worried about shipping costs, you can buy them without the web installed, so for each 48″ block you have to install half a dozen plastic webs before the block is ready to place. As much as I love repetitive, mundane tasks, this sounds like a nightmare.
The standard 48″ blocks also mean that you have far more vertical joins, each of which needs to be secured. With Nudura, you can place a huge amount of wall in very little time.
The visual is pretty impressive of an entire house worth of wall material stacked neatly in the center of the footprint of the home.

Nudura Education Resources

The second reason I wanted to use ICF for our first build was the number of educational resources. Nudura now offers their entire Basic Installation Training for FREE online! It’s an 8 hour course that covers everything from service penetrations to step-by-step course placement. The helpful, easy to understand charts for lintel design and rebar requirements were fundamental in feeling comfortable installing the ICF and feeling confident in the final product.
Experiences Building with Nudura
Now that we’ve done two Nudura builds, I’m more excited than ever to continue building with Nudura. Both of our first builds went almost entirely without a hitch. I think the only negative is a universal ICF negative, which is that I think I inhaled a lot of EPS cutting electrical chases with a chainsaw. But, all things considered, it makes for a fun experience.
